Marine Technician
Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting and delivering the safe operation of marine systems in line with high HSSE standards, whilst developing technical and analytical capabilities.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and reliable marine operations through strong operating discipline, situational awareness, and proactive risk management.
- Maintain a clear understanding of marine and process safety barriers, particularly at the interface between marine and production systems.
- Apply Control of Work (CoW) principles effectively, ensuring isolations, permits, and SIMOPS risks are actively managed—not just complied with.
- Monitor and control marine systems (ballast, cargo, tank systems, utilities), ensuring operations remain within defined limits and understanding the impact of deviations on asset integrity and FPSO stability.
- Take ownership of hull and tank condition, identifying emerging risks early and escalating before they impact safety or operations.
- Support safe execution of offloading and marine operations, maintaining close coordination with Marine Supervisor and Marine Superintendent.
- Execute routine and non-routine marine tasks with high standards of system integrity, basic care, and attention to detail.
- Prepare and perform isolations, line-ups, and system changes using a questioning mindset, particularly during complex or simultaneous operations.
- Maintain accurate tank status, ballast control, and system monitoring.
- Build strong foundational capability in marine systems, diagnostics, and troubleshooting, supported by structured on-the-job learning.
- Actively engage in development milestones such as Core Competency and CoW capability.
- Identify improvement opportunities based on work as done, contributing to practical reliability and safety improvements.
- Participate in investigations and learning reviews, focusing on understanding system weaknesses and strengthening barriers.
- Challenge unclear procedures and support continuous improvement of ways of working.
- Communicate clearly with the Control Room, Marine Supervisor, and wider team, ensuring risks, priorities, and system status are understood.
- Deliver effective handovers with clarity on tank conditions, marine risks, and SIMOPS interactions.
- Work collaboratively across marine, production, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, coordinated offshore execution.

- Troubleshooting and operating marine systems, with a strong desire to develop further. Experience in offshore marine operations, tanker operations, or similar high-hazard environments.

- Open to and engaged with digital tools, data, and modern ways of working (e.g., digital rounds, CoW, system tracking).
Education & Experience:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, or as required by local requirements.
- STCW Basic Safety Training
- OOW Deck or Engineer Certificate of Competency
- 5-year experience in offshore marine operations, tanker operations, or similar high-hazard environments.
