Telecoms Engineer
Job Summary
Provide telecom engineering support to ensure safe and reliable operation of Azule’s onshore and offshore critical telecom systems. Work closely with Maintenance and Site teams to resolve issues, manage risks, and improve system performance and standardization.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve daily telecom issues, focusing on offshore critical telecoms systems.
- Provide telecom engineering input for projects, shutdowns, and safety reviews.
- Monitor system performance and drive improvements using key metrics.
- Support and implement maintenance strategies for telecom systems.
- Promote standardization and ensure compliance with telecom practices.
- Offer technical support for system changes, procurement, and design evaluations.
- Participate in safety assessments, incident investigations, and reliability reviews.
- Conduct audits, field inspections, and support safe work practices.
- Manage telecom spare parts, vendor activities, and minor system upgrades.
- Maintain emergency communication systems and coordinate with regulators.
Requirements
- Proven experience in telecom risk management, safety, and contractor oversight.
- Skilled in root cause analysis, change management, and system improvements.
- Strong understanding of telecom systems used in offshore environments.
- Familiar with a wide range of telecom technologies (e.g., satellite, radio, PABX, radar, networks).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, system design, and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of telecom-related software tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations is a plus.
- Relevant certifications are an advantage.
Education & Experience
- At least 5 years in a telecom engineering role.
- Experience in telecom operations, preferably in oil & gas.
- Basic understanding of surface production facilities.
- Degree in Telecom Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Governance
Azule Energy is an incorporated joint venture (IJV) between BP p.l.c. and Eni SpA. bp and Eni each holding a 50% share. Azule Energy operates in Angola under different Petroleum agreements which set out its contractual relationship with the Angolan Government (represented by the National Concessionaire). The referred agreements provide the framework for carrying out the Petroleum operations.
